We began working with the Jefferson County Sheriff on a project to provide incident data to the public in November 2010.
Sheriff Shirley announced the project at a press conference on July 12, 2011
On January 19, 2012 the newly developed Jefferson County Web site launched earlier this year, began the support to display the departments incident database.
Neal Nilsen, president of River View Association, and vice president of the Eastern Panhandle Organization of Home Owners Associations and business owner of AskNeal Electronic Systems said "It has been a pleasure to work with the Sheriff's Staff on this project. One would think this was a simple task, but allot of work has gone into the data collection, data redaction, and data display. The public has a right to information, and people's personal information also needs to be protected. I think that the Sheriff has done a good job in this first release, and hope to be able to continue to provide feedback for future improvements."
